For the second game in succession, Floriana needed a Oualid El Hasni penalty to claim the the three points, beating Santa Lucia 1-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
For Santa Lucia, new coach Vincenzo Potenza, formerly of Floriana, was making his debut and he was therefore disappointed to see his side lose due to this late penalty. Santa Lucia remain third from bottom, one point ahead of bottom-placed Zebbug and Pieta’.
The Greens move sixth on 15 points, two behind Gudja and just three behind Birkirkara and Hibernians who share the third place.
Floriana scored the all-important goal seven minutes from time after Oualid El Hasni converted a penalty when Kemar Reid was brought down inside the area by Diego Francarolli Pacheco.
