Pieta’ Hotspurs rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Marsaxlokk at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Although Marsaxlokk were reduced to ten men, they still managed to take the lead but in the dying minutes, the Hotspurs notched the equaliser. With this draw, the Southseasiders extended their positive run to six matches and now lie in the ninth place on 13 points. The Hotspurs, on the other hand, join Zebbug Rangers on four points.
Following a goalless first half, Marsaxlokk had Santiago Ferraris sent off on the 77th minute when he received a second yellow card for stopping a promising attack but hardly a minute later, they forged ahead when substitute Alfred Effiong’s conclusion from the left was deflected by Terence Agius past goalkeeper Alampasu for an own goal.
However with one minute to go, the Hotspurs equalised courtesy of substitute Samuel Okoh who slotted the ball past Drobnjak following a cross from the right.
