Zabbar St. Patrick moved top in Group A of the Izibet Amateur League as they defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s with Senglea Athletic suffering their first defeat.
Zabbar defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium courtesy of Andre Joe Cutajar on the 23rd and Nick Borg on the 73rd.
A goal by Alex Nilsson handed Qormi a narrow win over Senglea Athletic at the Luxol Stadium while in another match, Mgarr United defeated Mellieha 2-0 thanks to goals by Christian Saint Ebisindor on the 42nd and Saturday Nanapere on the 97th.
Zabbar lead the way with 24 points, followed by Senglea on 22, Mgarr 19, Kalkara 14, Birzebbuga 13, Qormi 12, Sta. Venera 10, Xghajra 8, Pembroke 6, Melieha 3 and Ta’ Xbiex 0.
Meanwhile in Group B, Rabat Ajax returned to winning ways thanks to a 3-0 win over Ghaxaq at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a brace by Ian Caruana on the 42nd and 66th and Kurt Agius on the 89th.
Rabat lead the way with 16 points, followed by St. George’s on 15, Msida and Gharghur 14, Luqa 11, Kirkop 8, Siggiewi and Ghaxaq 7, Dingli and Mdina 4.
