BOV Challenge League: Zejtun return to winning ways

Zejtun Corinthians returned to winning ways in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Marsaskala 1-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Andre Carlos Penha da Costa scored the all-important goal after just ten minutes,

Fgura United and Marsa shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium for Fgura to join Melita and St. Andrews in sixth place.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Qrendi defeated Mtarfa 3-2 in a bottom-of-the-table clash. Andre Farrugia put Mtarfa ahead five minutes from the end of the first half but eight minutes in the second half, Claudio Antunes levelled matters. Mtarfa regained the lead courtesy of Mattia Zarb on the 61st but Claudio Antunes converted a penalty on the 70th and went on to notch the winner three minutes in added time.

Sliema lead the way with 41 points, followed by Naxxar on 38, Zejtun on 33, Tarxien 28, Zurrieq 26, Fgura, Melita and St. Andrews 22, Marsa and Swieqi 20, Lija 19, Attard 17, San Gwann 15, Marsaskala 14, Mqabba 11, Qrendi and Vittoriosa 10 and Mtarfa 8.
