Izibet Amateur League: Msida, Gharghur share spoils in 3-3 draw

Leaders Msida St. Joseph were held in a 3-3 draw by Gharghur in a top-of-the table clash in Group B of the Izibet Amateur League at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.

Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza put Msida ahead on the 37th but one minute from the end of the first half, Jayden Aquilina levelled matters. Russell Vella restored the lead for Msida on the hour but although Erik Pietribiasi equalised three minutes later, the Saints regained the lead courtesy of Jamie Camilleri on the 67th. However, Erik Pietribiasi notched the equaliser on the 90th.

At the Sirens Stadium, goals by Nobukatsu Tsuchiya on the 21st and Ian Caruana on the 64th handed Rabat Ajax a 2-0 win over neighbours Mdina Knights.

At the Luxol Stadium, Luqa St. Andrew’s defeated St. George’s 4-2. Morientes Muscat put St. George’s ahead on the 20th minute but Luqa turned the score in their favour with goals by Chibuzor Lucky Nwaogu on the 25th and Alan Abdel Rahman four minutes later. The Cospicua side levelled matters through Matthew Schembri on the 59th but goals by Nwaogu on the 63d and Luke Dalli on the 80th handed Luqa the three points.

On the other hand, Kirkop United defeated Siggiewi 3-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Matthew Borg handed Kirkop the lead on the 15th and although Rene Duca equalised on the 25th, goals by Jamie Mifsud on the 42nd and Lincoln Micallef three minutes in the second half ensured Kirkop took home the three points.

Msida lead the way with 21 points, followed by Rabat on 20, Gharghur and Luqa 18, Kirkop 17, St. George’s 16, Ghaxaq 11, Siggiewi 8, Dingli 5, Mdina 4.
