A penalty early in the game paved the way for Zebbug Rangers as they returned to winning ways, defeating Gudja United 2-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Rangers move third from bottom, two points ahead of Santa Lucia while Gudja, who suffer a second successive defeat, remain eighth.
Zebbug had a perfect start, taking the lead on the 8th minute when referee Stefan Pace ordered a penalty after Travis Bartolo was adjudged to having been fouled by Neil Tabone and from the penalty spot, Charles Lokoli Ngoy made no mistake.
Six minutes in the second half, Gudja suffered another blow as they had Andre Prates sent off and Zebbug made the most out of it as on the 61st minute, off an assist by Charles Lokoli Ngoy, Kurt Bondin slotted the ball past goalkeeper Glenn Zammit.
