BOV Challenge League: Naxxar keep the pace with leaders Sliema

Naxxar Lions kept the pace with leaders Sliema Wanderers in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-0 in a match from the Top Six at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Robinson Blandon Rendon handed Naxxar the lead on the 34th, Erikys Ferreira doubled the score on the 47th and Jurgen Suda made it 3-0 twelve minutes from time.

In the Top Six, Sliema lead the way with 53 points, followed by Naxxar on 45, Zejtun 34, Tarxien 33, Melita 30 and Zurrieq 29.

Meanwhile in the Play-Outs, St. Andrews claimed three precious points in a 2-1 win over Mtarfa at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Luke Mijic put St. Andrews ahead on the 17th and although five minutes in the second half, Genesis Fernandes de Andrade levelled matters, Mattias Ellul made it 2-1 nine minutes from time.

In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Attard and San Gwann shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, goals by Tobi Akiti for San Gwann on the 43rd and Yuto Morita on the 68th for Attard.

On the other hand, Fgura United and Marsaskala earned a point each on a 1-1 draw at the Centenary Stadium, goals by Adrian Carabott on the 44th and Aroldo da Silva Arruda on the 71st.

In the Play-Out, Swieqi and St. Andrews lead the way with 28 points, followed by Marsa and Fgura on 27, Lija 23, Mqabba 21, Attard 20, San Gwann 19, Qrendi 17, Marsaskala 16, Mtarfa 14 and Vittoriosa 13.
