Hibernians announced that they have parted ways with coach Andrea Pisanu.
This decision arrives at the end of a disappointing period for the Paolites during which they suffered four defeats in five league matches which saw them lose ground in the battle for a place in European football this summer as they now lie in joint-fifth place with Balzan, nineteen points behind leaders Hamrun, eight behind Gzira United, five behind Birkirkara and two behind Mosta.
Pisanu had been appointed as coach of Hibernians in July following the departure of Stefano Sanderra who joined the SS Lazio Primavera side. In November, he had been voted Motors Inc Coach of the Month.
A former player of Cagliari, Siena, Verona, Varese, Parma, Bologna, Prato, Montreal Impact and Sliema, Andrea Pisanu had stared his coaching career at Melita before joining Balzan as assistant coach in summer 2019 but in February 2020, he joined Sliema Wanderers as coach. He was removed from the post in February 2022.
In a short statement, the club thanked Pisanu “for the professionalism and gentlemanly conduct shown during his short spell at the club, and wished him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
