Gharghur and Luqa St. Andrew’s maintained the challenge for a play-off spot as they both registered wins in matches from Group B of the Izibet Amateur League on Saturday.

At the Sirens Stadium, Gharghur beat Mdina Knights thanks to goals by Erik Pietribiasi just before half-time and another on the 59th, Samuel Agius on the 82nd and Shawn Vella five minutes later.

A goal by Leon Theuma on the 41st minute handed Luqa St. Andrew’s a narrow win over Kirkop United at the Luxol Stadium while a goal by Tyrone Grech eleven minutes from time enabled Siggiewi to beat Dingli Swallows in another match at the Luxol Stadium.

Meanwhile in a match from Group A, Xghajra Tornados came from behind to beat Kalkara United 3-2 at the Sirens Stadium.

Danny De Abela-Borg put Xghajra ahead on the 5th but goals by Ayrton Micallef on the 23rd and Vadim Gulceac on the 42nd turned the score in Kalkara’s favour. However an Aaron Hili penalty on the hour restored equilibrium and Aidan Agius Gilford notched the winner ten minutes later.
