Women’s Under-19 national team off to a great start in Armenia

The Malta women’s Under-19 national team defeated hosts Armenia 4-1 in the opening match from League B Group B4 of the UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship Round 2 at the City Stadium in Abovyan on Tuesday.

Alexandra Gatt converted a penalty after just three minutes after Yulya Carella was brought down inside the area by Karapetyan. Sara Saliba doubled the score on the 15th. Lexine Farrugia increased the lead thirteen minutes in the second half and Sara Saliba added another five minutes from time. Yeritsyan was sent off for Armenia on the 87th but two minutes in added time, they reduced the gap through substitute Tatev Khachatryan.

Malta plays the second game on Friday against the Faroe Islands.
