Hibernians return to winning ways

Following back-to-back defeats to Marsaxlokk and Birkirkara, Hibernians returned to winning ways as they defeated Pieta’ Hotspurs 4-1 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

A win which enables Silvio Vella’s side to move third on level points with Gzira United.

The Paolites took the lead on the 15th minute thanks to Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio who rounded Cini to place the ball at the back of the net. 

Two minutes later, Jake Grech doubled the score when he converted a penalty after Gabriel Mensah was brought down inside the area by Zean Leonardi.

Pieta’ pulled one back on the 25th minute thanks to a goal by Ivin Farrugia who beat Ibrahim Kone from close range.

However twelve minutes in the second half, the Paolites regained a comfortable lead thanks to Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio whose low shot beat the Pieta’ goalkeeper. 

Jake Grech added another seven minutes from time with a lob over the goalkeeper from a closed angle.
