Santa Lucia opened wide the battle for the play-off spot as an own goal early in the game handed them a narrow win over Valletta at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.

Santa Lucia grabbed the three points with a goal after just eight minutes when off a cross from the left by Robert Hehedosh, Ulrich N’Nomo deflected the ball past goalkeeper Alessandro Guarnone for an own goal.
