The Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio announced that Luciano Spalletti has been appointed as the new Italy coach. He replaces Roberto Mancini who stepped down from the post last week.
Throughout his career, Spalletti coached Empoli, Sampdoria, Venezia, Udinese, Ancona, Roma, Zenit St. Petersburg, Inter and Napoli.
Italy will be playing two matches from Group C of the European Qualifiers against North Macedonia on September 9 and Ukraine three days later before hosting Malta on October 14 at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari.
