Melita defeated Tarxien Rainbows 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday in one of the four BOV Challenge League matches in programme on Sunday.
Santiago Martinez Perlaza put Melita ahead on the 8th minute and five minutes from the end of the first half, Matthew Debattista doubled the score. Jean Carlos Cloth Goncalves pulled one back one minute in added time.
Goals by Nnamdi Ofufu Ibeh just before the end of the first half and Michael Gatt two minutes from time handed Fgura United a 2-0 win over St. Andrews at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Newly-promoted Zabbar St. Patrick scored three in the second half to beat Attard 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium. Duvan Mosquera Torres put Zabbar ahead two minutes in the second half. David Oliveira Souza doubled the score on the 78th and one minute from time, James Scicluna scored the third goal.
On the other hand, Lija Athletic defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Ronald Makalysten Melo Costa opened the score on the 22nd minute and although Emmanuel Bio equalised on the 62nd, Melo Costa restored the lead one minute later and a penalty by Lucas Vinicius Viana Prati made it 3-1.
