San Gwann and Vittoriosa Stars registered comfortable 5-1 wins in two matches from Group B of the IZIBET Amateur League on Saturday.
At the Luxol Stadium, San Gwann defeated Ta’ Xbiex 5-1. Tejumola Ebenezer Ayorinde put San Gwann ahead on the 12th minute and an own goal on the 24th put them two goals ahead with Matthias Fenech making it 3-0 three minutes later. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza extended the lead on the 36th and although Stefi Cale reduced the gap on the 61st, Matteo Vella scored San Gwann’s fifth.
Kenneth Aquilina scored twice as Marsaskala defeated Ghaxaq 3-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Clayton Vella opened the score for Ghaxaq on the 12th but Aquilina scored on the 33rd and 67th to turn the score in favour of Marsaskala. Joshua Micallef sealed the issue on the 79th.
Vittoriosa Stars beat Dingli Swallows 5-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Aaron Sammut converted a penalty on the 5th minute to put the Stars ahead and Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe doubled the score on the 24th. Four minutes later, Liam Gauci made it 3-0 and although Shamison Farrugia reduced the gap on the 37th, Gauci scored Vittoriosa’s fourth five minutes from the end of the first half. Nigel Spiteri made it 5-1 eight minutes in the second half.
Meanwhile in Group A, Mtarfa defeated Siggiewi 4-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to an own goal on the 43rd and goals by Kurt Borg on the 47th and 64th and Josuel Spiteri on the 62nd.
