Birzebbuga St. Peter’s registered an impressive 7-2 win over Pembroke Athleta at the Sirens Stadium in one of the four matches from Group A of the IZIBET Amateur League on Sunday.
Lee Joe Schembri put the Saints ahead on the 16th and Samuel Saldanha doubled the score on the 22nd. Five minutes later, Ryan Sammut made it 3-0 and Saldanha added another on the 36th. Five minutes in the second half, Schembri scored Birzebbuga’s fifth with Saldanha and Gabriel Borg adding another two goals on the 54th and 57th. Weverton Gomes reduced the gap with goals on the 69th and 77th.
Rabat Ajax came back from a goal down to beat Kalkara United 4-2 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Mattias Formosa put Kalkara ahead on the 9th minute but five minutes later, Darko Todorovski levelled matters and Andy Paul Camilleri made it 2-1 on the 38th. Aidan Azzopardi extended the lead on the hour and although Thomas Grima reduced the gap on the 88th, three minutes in added time, Yuya Emura sealed the issue with a fourth goal.
A brace by Richmond Baratuipre Hanson handed Santa Venera Lightnings a 2-1 win over Qrendi at the Charles Abela Stadium. He scored on the 11th and 32nd with Dario Borg pulling one back one minute from the end of the first half.
On the other hand, Mqabba defeated Mellieha 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a goal by Julian Zammit on the 24th and a brace by Andres Tenorio Viveros on the 71st and 87th.
