Andrei Ciolacu puts Birkirkara back on track

Birkirkara returned to winning ways as they defeated Hibernians 1-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Stripes therefore returned to winning ways after losing to Floriana and being held in a 1-1 draw by Valletta. Hibernians, on the other hand, suffered a second consecutive defeat to stay one point behind Marsaxlokk and now Birkirkara and three behind Floriana and Hamrun Spartans.

Hibs could have taken the lead mid-way through the second half through Robert Bairam who hit the upright with an angled shot from the right.

However ten minutes from time, the Stripes notched the winner when off an assist by Adailton, Andrei Ciolacu’s first attempt was blocked and Paul Mbong returned the ball to the Romanian forward who hit low past goalkeeper Ibrahim Kone.
