Heavy defeat for Women’s Under-17 national team to Croatia

Hosts Croatia were in a class of their own as they defeated Malta in a match from Group B3 of the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship qualifying round at the Stadion in Branko Čavlović-Čavlek in Karlovac on Monday.

Stela Veselji opened the score on the 25th and five minutes from the end of the first half, Marija Došen doubled the score with Mia Pestić making it 3-0 just before the end of the first half.

Four minutes in the second half, Došen scored Croatia’s fourth and Helena Lešić made it 5-0 on the 74th. Five minutes from time, Mia Pestić extended the lead further before Luana Vanjak and an own goal completed the rout in added time.

In another match on Monday, Luxembourg defeated Azerbaijan 1-0.
