After claiming maximum points from the first four matches, Floriana dropped their first points as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Naxxar Lions at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.
The Lions therefore extended their positive run to three matches following the draw with Gzira United and the comfortable win over Santa Lucia.
The Greens were finding it difficult to penetrate the Naxxar rear-guard but managed to take the lead on the 33rd minute when off a cross by Adam Magri Overend from the right, a defender cleared the ball, Kemar Reid failed to intercept but Dunstan Vella hit low to place the ball at the back of the net.
However two minutes later, Naxxar levelled matters when Takuma Yamaguchi received the ball on the left following an erratic clearance by a defender and lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper from a close angle.
