Hamrun Spartans missed out on the opportunity to take sole leadership in the BOV Premier League following Floriana’s draw with Naxxar Lions as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Sliema Wanderers at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Hamrun therefore continue to share the top spot with Floriana, now lying three points haead of Marsaxlokk with Sliema Wanderers joining Birkirkara in fourth place, three behind the Southseasiders.
The Spartans took the lead on the 29th minute when Uros Djuranovic released Luke Montebello on the left and the latter rounded a defender before beating goalkeeper Rashed Al Tumi.
However the Wanderers levelled matters on the 66th minute courtesy of Geoffrey Acheampong, served on the right by Vito Plut, who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Henry Bonello.
