Despite playing for over seventy minutes in ten men, Gudja United earned a point in a goalless draw with Santa Lucia at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.
Both sides continue to chase their first win but while Gudja now lie on the three-point mark thanks to a third draw in five matches, Santa Lucia obtained their first positive result after four defeats in the first four matches.
Gudja had Marvin Santiago Angulo Perea sent off after just eighteen minutes for attempting to kick Jurgen Pisani.
However, Gudja went close on the 28th minute as Karl Micallef tested goalkeeper Celio with a header. Santa Lucia replied with a fierce shot by Jed Valletta which was neutralised by Sozer and then with a cross shot by Jan Tanti which ended just wide.
Gudja goalkeeper Yaren Sozer performed a good save on a Steve Pisani corner from the left and then performed a good save on a curved shot by Tatsuro Nagamatsu while in stoppage time, the Australian goalkeeper denied Wagner the winner as he neutralised his goal-bound header.
