Third successive defeat for Hibernians

Balzan scored twice in the second half to beat Hibernians 2-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

A win which puts Oliver Spiteri’s side in fourth place, four points behind the two joint-leaders Hamrun and Floriana and one behind Marsaxlokk. But while for Balzan, this was the third win in five matches, for Hibernians, this was the third successive defeat.

Balzan took the lead on the hour when off a cross from the right by Jake Grech, Ryohei Michibuchi hit home past Ibrahim Kone.

In the dying minutes, Balzan sealed the issue with a second goal courtesy of Awosanya Oluwatobiloba Dimeji who concluded a good run by rounding the goalkeeper and placing the ball at the back of the net.
