Birkirkara hit three past Balzan to move third

Birkirkara bounced back from the defeat to Mosta as they defeated Balzan 3-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

A win which puts the Stripes in third place, on level points with Marsaxlokk, four behind Floriana and one ahead of Mosta and Balzan.

Birkirkara took the lead on the 16th minute when off a Paul Mbong corner from the right, Enrico Pepe headed the ball down and Andrei Ciolacu served Yannick Yankam who hit home from close range.

Eight minutes from the end of the first half, Birkirkara were awarded a penalty after Enmy Pena Beltre was brought down inside the area by Triston Caruana and from the penalty spot, Andrei Ciolacu made no mistake.

The Stripes sealed the issue with a third goal two minutes in the second half when Andrei Ciolacu intercepted a back header by Momcilo Raso for goalkeeper Danilo Golovic and rounded the goalkeeper before placing the ball at the back of the net.
