A late penalty handed Valletta a point in a 1-1 draw with Gzira United at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
While Valletta join Mosta and Balzan in sixth place on 9 points, one behind Sliema and Birkirkara, Gzira remain one point behind the Citizens.
Gżira took the lead on the 13th minute when off a cross from the left by Thiago Espindola, Thaylor Aldama headed home past goalkeeper Jake Galea.
Valletta levelled matters four minutes from time when they were awarded a penalty after a Santiago Ferraris effort was deflected by the hand of Farid Zuniga and from the penalty spot, Federico Falcone converted.
