A few days after successfully completing his tasks in the FISU University World Cup in China, Ishmael Barbara was assigned a UEFA Youth League match in France between FC Nantes and Finnish side HJK Helsinki.

Barbara was assisted by Duncan Spencer and Mark Ciantar as his Assistant Referees, whereas the fourth official was French match official Guillaume Paradis.
