Leaders Zabbar St. Patrick marched on in the BOV Challenge League as they came from behind to defeat Luqa St. Andrew’s 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.
Alan Abdel Rahman put Luqa ahead on the 8th minute but Rodolfo Soares equalised on the half-hour and just before the end of the first half, Duvan Mosquera Torres made it 2-1. David Oliveira Souza sealed the issue with a third goal one minute from time.
A goal by Johan Alberto Castano on the 67th and a brace by Nnamdi Ofufu Ibeh on the 94th and 96th handed Fgura United a 3-0 win over Lija Athletic at the Centenary Stadium.
On the other hand, Ivan Sousa Flora Francisco was the hero for Zurrieq as he notched a hat-trick in a 3-2 win over St. Andrews at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Ivan Souza opened the score on the 16th but Liam Scicluna equalised on the 24th. Sousa, however, scored twice on the 72nd and 75th to hand Zurrieq a 3-1 lead but Roderick Taliana converted a penalty three minutes in added time to reduce the gap.
On the other hand, a goal by Andre Carlos Penha Da Costa on the 57th handed Melita a narrow win over Attard at the Centenary Stadium.
Zabbar lead the way with 22 points, followed by Melta on 20, Marsa and Fgura on 18, Zurrieq 16, Lija 14, Pieta’, Swieqi and Senglea 12, Luqa and Zejtun 9, Tarxien 8, Attard and Zebbug 5, St. Andrews 4 and Msida 3.
