Leaders Floriana moved six points clear as two early goals paved the way for a comfortable 3-0 win over Mosta at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Greens remain unbeaten in ten matches and lead Hamrun Spartans by six points although the latter have a game in hand. Mosta, on the other hand, remain joint-fourth from bottom together with Valletta.
Floriana took the lead on the 3rd minute when off a cross from the left, Matheus Souza headed home past goalkeeper David Udoh Akpan.
Five minutes later, the Greens doubled the score courtesy of Matias Garcia whose powerful drive gave the Mosta custodian no chance.
To make matters worse for Mosta, seven minutes in the second half, captain Zachary Brincat was sent off following a tough challenge on Ulises Arias.
Five minutes from time, substitute Mattia Veselji scored the third goal as he beat Akpan with a header following a cross by Valadzko.
