Marsa failed to keep the pace with leaders Zabbar St. Patrick as they lost 1-3 to Pieta’ Hotspurs at the Centenary Stadium in one of four matches from the BOV Challenge League on Sunday.
Ironically, Tensior Gusman put Marsa ahead on the 26th but Claudio Antunes Pavlidis equalised six minutes later, putting the Hotspurs ahead four minutes from the end of the first half. Cadu added another three minutes in added time.
Goals by Alilu Issaka on the 32nd and Clive Gauci on the 80th handed Senglea Athletic a 2-0 win over Zebbug Rangers while a goal by Robinson Blandon Rendon handed Swieqi United a narrow win over Zejtun Corinthians in the two matches at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Meanwhile goals by Gabriel Aquilina on the 50th and Jean Carlos Cloth Goncalves on the 67th enabled Tarxien Rainbows to return to winning ways as they beat Msida St. Joseph 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium.
Zabbar lead the way with 25 points, followed by Melita on 23, Fgura 21, Marsa and Zurrieq 19, Pieta’ and Senglea 18, Swieqi 15, Lija 14, Tarxien 12, Luqa and Zejtun 9, Zebbug 8, Attard 5, St. Andrews 4 and Msida 3.
