Naxxar Lions scored a late goal to extend their positive run to eight matches to earn a point in a 1-1 draw with Sirens at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Sirens once again failed to register their first win despite taking the lead and creating a number of chances, also missing a late penalty. They remain anchored at the bottom of the table.
On the other hand, the Lions missed the opportunity to keep the pace with third-placed Marsaxlokk and Sliema Wanderers and now share fifth place with Hibernians on 16 points. three ahead of Birkirkara and Balzan with the Stripes having a game in hand.
Sirens took the lead on the 13th minute when off an assist by Nicholas Pulis, Kemmu Degran Jackson slotted the ball home past goalkeeper Matthias Debono.
The Lions levelled matters six minutes from time courtesy of Takuma Yamaguchi whose powerful drive from outside the area gave goalkeeper Andrea Cassar no chance.
However Sirens could have regained the lead two minutes from time when Fernando Barbosa floored Bismark Asare inside the area but from the penalty spot, Nixon Guylherne Rocha Brizolara hit sky high.
