St. George’s failed to move second in Group B of the IZIBET Amateur League as they suffered a shock 1-2 defeat to Dingli Swallows at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Mohamed Kara put Dingli ahead on the 19th and although Timothy Thomas equalised on the 59th, Sven Fabri converted a penalty on the 90th for the Swallows.
Qormi defeated Ghaxaq 4-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Jayden Borg scored twice on the 6th and the 47th and three minutes later, Jake Bone made it 3-0. Jurgen Gerada reduced the gap on the 72nd but Nicholai Falzon added another for Qormi two minutes in added time.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Ghaxaq and Vittoriosa Stars shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
Mgarr lead the way with 20 minutes, followed by Marsaskala on 18, Kirkop and St. George’s 16, Qormi 15, San Gwann 14, Gharghur 12, Vittoriosa 10, Dingli 7, Ghaxaq and Ta’ Xbiex 6.
Meanwhile in a match from Group A, Xghajra Tornados defeated Santa Venera Lightnings 3-2. Richmond Baratuipre Hanson put the Lightnings ahead on the 31st but Xghajra soon turned the score in their favour courtesy of Erson Schembri on the 38th and two own goals on the 67th and 85th. In added time, the Lightnings reduced the gap with another goal by Hanson.
