Zabbar St. Patrick keep marching on in the BOV Challenge League thanks to a narrow win over Msida St. Joseph at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Brian Ariel Gambarte scored the all-important goal eight minutes from the end of the first half.
A goal by Yuto Morita on the 29th handed Pieta’ Hotspurs a narrow win over Luqa St. Andrew’s in another match at the Centenary Stadium to join Melita in second place.
Lija Athletic registered a fine 4-1 win over Zejtun Corinthians at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Leo Agius put Lija ahead on the 5th but Fahad Bardiro converted a penalty on the 10th. However Erjon Beu scored twice on the 23rd and 24th and one minute from the end of the first half, Courage Jesusemen Omoruanzoje made it 4-1.
In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Zebbug Rangers and Attard shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Brady Agius put Attard ahead on the 33rd but Jordan Sciberras equalised on the 75th.
Zabbar lead the way with 29 points, followed by Melita and Pieta’ on 24, Fgura 22, Lija and Zurrieq 20, Marsa and Senglea 19, Swieqi 16, Tarxien and Zejtun 12, Luqa 10, Zebbug 9, Attard and Msida 6, St. Andrews 5.
