Vittoriosa Stars registered a 10-1 win over Ta’ Xbiex in a match from Group B of the IZIBET Amateur League at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday.
Liam Ciantar opened the score on the 6th and Ali Shaban Chikh doubled the scoring on the 14th. Ten minutes later, Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe made it 3-0, adding another three minutes later. Chikh scored a fifth goal seven minutes from the end of the first half. The latter completed his poker with another two goals on the 55th and 66th. Jake Samuel Hartley extended the lead on the 74th with Gabriel Calleja rounding up the score with two goals on the 77th and 87th. Andres Felipe Rodriguez Vergara scored a consolation goal for Ta’ Xbiex on the 90th.
Qormi leapfrogged St. George’s and Kirkop United in second place as they defeated Dingli Swallows 4-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Jayden Borg put Qormi ahead on the 2nd minute and although Neil Said equalised on the 11th, Borg scored another two goals on the 31st and 37th with an own goal on the 73rd sealing the issue for Qormi.
Marsaskala suffered a second defeat in four days as a goal by Mihaly Gidaly on the 61st minute gave Gharghur a narrow win at the Charles Abela Stadium.
Mgarr lead the way with 23 points, followed by Qormi on 21, Kirkop and St. George’s 19, Gharghur and Marsaskala 18, San Gwann 17, Vittoriosa 16, Dingli 7, Ghaxaq and Ta’ Xbiex 6.
Meanwhile in a match from Group A, Xghajra Tornados rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Siggiewi at the Sirens Stadium. Isaac Ansanyi put Siggiewi ahead on the 76th but Larson Mallia equalised two minutes from time.
