The social dimension of football and the importance of adequate sports facilities were the main topics discussed during a recent meeting between Malta Football Association President Bjorn Vassallo and Hon. Omar Farrugia, the Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works.
Dr Angelo Chetcuti, the Malta FA General Secretary, and the directors responsible for the facilities of the Association and Member Clubs across the island, also participated in the meeting with Hon. Farrugia and his delegation at the Malta FA Offices.
Congratulating Hon. Farrugia for his appointment, Mr Vassallo thanked him for his constant support towards the Malta FA, also in his previous capacity.
The Malta FA President stressed the importance of strengthening the positive relationship between the two entities for the benefit of the wider community in light of sport’s significant contribution to the well-being of the Maltese society.
For his part, Hon. Farrugia commended the Malta FA’s work, through its clubs and Member Associations, in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the community, both from a social perspective and for professional training.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works reiterated his commitment and that of the Government to assist sports associations and organizations in their sporting and social mission.
The Malta Football Association is the largest sports organization in the country with over 70 facilities across Malta and Gozo catering to thousands of members, officials, and football fans of all ages throughout the year.
