BOV Challenge League: Senglea, Marsa and Pieta’ secure Top 6 spot

Senglea Athletic, Marsa and Pieta’ Hotspurs joined Zabbar St. Patrick, Melita and Zurrieq in the Top 6 of the BOV Challenge League as they emerged as winners in decisive matches from match day 15 on Saturday.

Goals by Clive Gauci on the 31st and Manji WIlliams on the 90th handed Senglea Athletic a 2-0 win over Attard at the Sirens Stadium while Marsa had to wait until the 92nd minute to notch the winner in the game against Luqa St. Andrew’s at the Victor Tedesco Stadium courtesy of Augusto Rene Caseres.

Pieta’ Hotspurs, on the other hand, defeated Zurrieq 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium thanks to goals by Isaac Cutajar on the 30th and Claudio Antunes Pavlidis on the 52nd.

Leaders Zabbar St. Patrick were held in a 1-1 draw by Tarxien Rainbows at the Centenary Stadium. David Oliveira Souza put Zabbar ahead on the 57th but Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo equalised fourteen minutes later.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Melira and Zejtun Corinthians shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Fgura United came from behind to beat Zebbug Rangers 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Gaetano Gesualdi put Zebbug ahead on the 23rd but Adolphus Nagbe Marshall equalised on the 32nd. Nnamdi Ofufu Ibeh made it 2-1 four minutes before hte end of the first half and Dylan Caurana sealed the issue one minute from time.

Lija Athletic and Swieqi United shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Charles Abela Stadium. Federico Vasilchik handed Swieqi the lead on the 64th but three minutes later Jesusemen Courage Omoruanzoje equalised and Gianluca Falzon made it 2-1 for Lija on the 70th. However Juan Cruz Aguilar restored equilibrium for Swieqi six minutes in added time.

In another match, St. Andrews defeated Msida St. Joseph 3-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Ibrahima Toure opened the score on the 4th minute but Nnaemeka Uzoma Eziukwu equalised for Msida on the 18th. Clyde Cumbo restored the lead for the Saints twelve minutes in the second half but once again, Eziukwu equalised, this time through a penalty on the 74th. However Brayan Samuel Nyetam Junior notched the winner two minutes in added time.
