Hibernians climbed into fifth place in the BOV Premier League thanks to a 2-0 win over Santa Lucia at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
A win which puts the Paolites one point behind Marsaxlokk and three ahead of Birkirkara and Naxxar Lions. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, remain third from bottom.
Hibs took the lead on the 26th minute when off a cross from the right, in an attempt to anticipate Alex Bruno, Jurgen Pisani beat goalkeeper Celio with a shot from the edge of the area for an own goal.
Just before the end of the first half, the Paolites doubled the score thanks to a fine volley by Lucas Caruana which beat the Santa Lucia goalkeeper.
In the second half, Alessandro Zinnari’s side tried their best to reduce the arrears but Hibs goalkeeper Hugo Sacco performed good saves on Santiago Moracci, Jurgen Pisani and Alessandro Piazza.
