After earning just three points from the last four matches, Marsaxlokk returned to winning ways as they beat Gudja United 2-1 at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Southseasiders move five points behind third-placed Sliema Wanderers while Gudja remain anchored at the bottom of the table, one point behind Sirens.
Marsaxlokk took the lead on the 25th minute when Nikolai Muscat managed to beat goalkeeper James Pisani with a low shot from the left.
On the 62nd minute, Marsaxlokk extended the lead courtesy of Weder Soares who headed the ball home from close range following a cross from the left.
One minute in added time, substitute Luca Gatt pulled one back for Gudja with a shot from outside the area which beat goalkeeper Drobnjak.
