Sixth win on the trot for Hamrun Spartans

Hamrun Spartans registered a sixth successive win as they defeated Naxxar Lions 4-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

The Spartans, therefore, regain a three point lead over second-placed Floriana.

Naxxar, on the other hand, now share the sixth place with Birkirkara, three points behind Hibernians and two ahead of Balzan. The Lions have collected just two points from the last three matches.

Hamrun had a perfect start, taking the lead after just two minutes thanks to Jonny.

Naxxar equalised on the 20th minute thanks to Pabo Augusto Servo de Carvalho, served on the right by Maicon de Souza, beating goalkeeper Henry Bonello. with a diagonal shot.

However three minutes from the end of the first half, Uros Djuranovic restored the lead for the Spartans thanks to an angled shot from the right which beat goalkeeper Matthias Debono.

Luke Montebello made it 3-1 for Hamrun on the 72nd minutes, hitting home past Debono after the Naxxar goalkeeper blocked an angled shot by Jonny from the right.

Two minutes in added time, Roko Prsa delivered a corner from the right, Uros Djuranovic headed the ball in the direction of Emerson Marcelina who headed the ball home from close range.
