Birkirkara returned to winning ways as they defeated Mosta 2-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday.
A win which puts Jose Borg’s side in fourth place on 28 points, two ahead of Marsaxlokk and Hibernians but the Southseasiders have a game in hand. Mosta, on the other hand, are now tenth on 20 points, one behind Gzira, Naxxar and Balzan and two ahead of Santa Lucia and Valletta.
The Stripes took the lead on the 2nd minute when Andrei Ciolacu managed to beat goalkeeper David Udoh Akpan with a fine curved shot from outside the area.
Birkirkara doubled the score on the 24th when off a cross from the left by Paul Mbong, there was a short clearance and Simon Zibo had a low shot blocked by Akpan, Andrea Zammit had a header off the rebound blocked by the Mosta goalkeeper but Zammit placed the ball at the back of the net with an acrobatic shot.
