Women’s Under-17 national team end commitments with a 1-1 draw with Luxembourg

The Malta Women’s Under-17 national team led by coach Vince Galea ended its commitments in Group B5 of the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship Round 2 with a 1-1 draw with Luxembourg at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday.

Malta obtained one point in the tournament like Luxembourg but the latter placed second in the group thanks to a better goal difference. Northern Ireland won the tournament thanks to a 5-1 win over Malta and a 4-1 win over Luxembourg to secure promotion to League A.

Luxembourg had a perfect start, taking the lead on the 6th minute courtesy of Federica Morvilli.

Malta managed to equalise eight minutes in the second half through Sara Saliba. Amelia Vassallo received a second yellow card on 67 minutes, leaving the locals in ten.
