IZIBET Amateur League: Mgarr United regain sole leadership

Mgarr United regained sole leadership in Group B of the IZIBET Amateur League as they came from behind to beat Kirkop United 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.

Nestor Luis Silva put Kirkop ahead on the 8th but nine minutes in the second half, Christian Saint Ebisindor equalised and two minutes later, Jurgen Suda notched the winner.

A goal by Mihaly Gidaly on the 11th handed Gharghur a narrow win over Dingli Swallows at the Sirens Stadium while in another match, Ghaxaq defeated Ta’ Xbiex 5-1. Jurgen Gerada put Ghaxaq ahead on the 25th and three minutes from the end of the first half, Gaynor D’Amato doubled the score. Aaron Agius scored twice on the 47th and 53rd with Rio Micallef making it 5-0 on the 54th. Nicky Vella converted a penalty to reduce the gap for Ta’ Xbiex five minutes from time.

Mgarr lead the way with 37 points, followed by Marsaskala on 34, Gharghur and Qormi 31, San Gwann 26, Vittoriosa and St. George’s 25, Kirkop 20, Ghaxaq 10, Dingli 7, Ta’ Xbiex 6.

Meanwhile in a game from Group A, a goal by Clyde Bouvet on the 75th handed Rabat Ajax a narrow win over Xghajra Tornados at the Luxol Stadium.

Mtarfa lead the way with 46 points, followed by Birzebbuga on 36, Qrendi 35, Xghajra 30, Rabat 28, Mellieha 26, Mqabba 25, Pembroke 23, Sta. Venera 20, Kalkara 15, Siggiewi 11 and Mdina 1.
