Santa Lucia dropped two important points in the battle against relegation after being held in a 1-1 draw by Sirens at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Alessandro Zinnari’s side is ninth, on level points with Balzan, on 22 points, two ahead of Mosta and three ahead of Valletta. Sirens, on the other hand, move three points ahead of bottom-placed Gudja United.
Following a goalless first half, during which Sirens hit the woodwork twice, Santa Lucia took the lead on 68 minutes thanks to a Steve Pisani freekick from the left which beat goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.
However, six minutes later, Sirens levelled matters courtesy of Harrison Andreas Panayioutou who headed the ball home off a cross from the right.
