Floriana moved two points clear of Hamrun Spartans thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win over Sirens at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Spartans, however, have a game in hand, facing Mosta on Sunday.
Sirens, on the other hand, remain second from bottom, three points ahead of Gudja United.
Kemar Reid put Floriana ahead with a great freekick from the left which gave Andrea Cassar no chance.
Eleven minutes in the second half, Matheus Souza doubled the score with a rising shot from just outside the area.
Two minutes later, Willis Furtado was unlucky to hit the upright with a fine attempt from the edge of the area.
Substitute Mattia Veselji made it 3-0 three minutes from time beating Cassar with a diagonal shot from the right following a through pass by Willis Furtado.
