BOV Challenge League: Melita extend positive run to eight matches

Melita moved three points clear of Zabbar St. Patrick thanks to a narrow win over Senglea Athletic in the BOV Challenge League Top 6 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Matthew Portelli scored the all-important goal on 69 minutes.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, goals by Emerson Camilleri on the 25th, Kalani Capponi Delarole on the hour and Glamour Eziefula Chibueze nine minutes later handed Zurrieq a 3-0 win over Pieta’ Hotspurs.

Melita lead the way with 47 points, followed by Zabbar on 44, Senglea 34, Marsa 33, Pieta’ 32 and Zurrieq 31.

In the Play-Out, a goal by William James England five minutes in the second half handed St. Andrews a narrow win over Tarxien Rainbows at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

On the other hand, Fgura United and Lija Athletic shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, goals by Dylan Caruana for Fgura on the 5th and Jhanluis Aron Hernandez Leal on the 25th for Lija

Fgura lead the way with 31 points, followed by Lija on 29, Swieqi on 28, Tarxien 27, Luqa and Zejtun 25, St. Andrews 18, Zebbug 14, Attard 11 and Msida 6. Msida St. Joseph have already been relegated to the Amateur League.
