Naxxar Lions move back in sixth place

Naxxar Lions moved back in sixth place as they defeated Gudja United 4-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

The Lions now lie one point ahead of Birkirkara and two ahead of Gzira United and Balzan. Gudja, on the other hand, have now gone twenty two matches without a win.

Naxxar took the lead on the 7th minute when following a good run on the left, Robinson Blandon Rendon served Pablo Augusto Servo de Carvalho who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Felix Lehtinen.

Seven minutes later, Pablo Augusto doubled the score, beating Lehtinen with an angled shot following an assist by Marcilio William Moreira da Silva.

On the 18th minutes, Robinson Blandon Rendon controlled an assist by Takuma Yamaguchi and rounded a defender before beating the Gudja goalkeeper with a shot from outside the area.

Gianluca Zammit reduced the gap three minutes later with a fine shot from the left which gave goalkeeper Matthias Debono no chance.

Matias Muchardi scored a second goal for Gudja on the hour when served by Aidan Friggieri from the left.

However on the 90th, Pablo Augusto sealed the issue with a fourth goal when he beat Felix Lehtinen when served by Rendon from the left.
