Sliema Wanderers scored deep into stoppage time to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with Balzan at the National Stadium on Sunday.
A draw which puts Sliema six points ahead of fourth-placed Marsaxlokk. Balzan, on the other hand, move one point clear of Gzira United in eighth place.
Balzan took the lead seven minutes from the end of the first half when Aleksa Andrejic’s low shot was partially saved by Rashed Al Tumi who remained on the ground injured after colliding with Jake Engerer and George Blackwood placed the ball at the back of the net.
However three minutes in added time, the Wanderers levelled matters when off a cross from the right by Denis Kouao, Nicholas Strickland headed home past goalkeeper Rudy Briffa.
