Vittoriosa Stars joined Birzebbuga St. Peter’s on top of the IZIBET Amateur League 1 as they defeated Attard 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Saturday. Attard, therefore suffered their first defeat after claiming maximum points from the first four matches.
Gordon Saliba put the Stars ahead on 24 minutes and Gianluca Sultana doubled the score on the 76th.
Xghajra moved fourth thanks to a 5-2 win over Msida St. Joseph in another match at the Charles Abela Stadium. Larson Mallia put the Tornadoes ahead on 7 minutes and Raylon Kaylon Paisley doubled the score a minute later. Larson Mallia converted a penalty on the 36th but three minutes from the end of the first half, Dario Borg reduced the gap. Moustafa Robert Malool scored a second goal for Msida two minutes in the second half but goals by Mallia on the 71st and Kenneth Abela on the 74th sealed the issue for Xghajra.
A penalty by Leo Salgado twelve minutes from time enabled Qrendi to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with Gharghur at the Sirens Stadium. Miguel Simiana had put Gharghur ahead on the 15th.
On the other hand, Mellieha and Zejtun Corinthians shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Sirens Stadium.
