Pieta’ Hotspurs failed to take sole leadership in the BOV Challenge League as they suffered a shock 0-4 defeat to Mgarr United at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Samuel Boakye scored twice on the 33rd and 36th and four minutes later, Matthew Mifsud made it 3-0. Luka Mijic added another on the 70th.
Marsa moved third thanks to a 3-1 win over Lija Athletic at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Lydon Micallef put Marsa ahead on the 5th and an own goal on the 17th put them two goals ahead. Robinho converted a penalty on the 35th but Lija reduced the gap thanks to an Erjon Beu penalty ten minutes in the second half.
Tarxien Rainbows suffered a 0-2 defeat to Zebbug Rangers at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Chico Mendes put Zebbug ahead just before half-time and Duvan Mosquera doubled the score on the 68th.
On the other hand, a goal by Mark Fenech on the 4th and a brace by Gilberto Carrara on the 19th and 78th handed Sirens a 3-0 win over Swieqi United at the Centenary Stadium.
Valletta and Pieta’ lead the way with 15 points, followed by Marsa on 14, Tarxien 13, Mgarr, Zurrieq and Sirens 12, Swieqi 11, Zebbug and Gudja 7, Fgura 6, Senglea and St. Andrews 5, Santa Lucia and Lija 4 and Mtarfa 3.
