Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Xghajra Tornados registered identical 5-2 win in the IZIBET Amateur League 1 on Saturday.
At the Sirens Stadium, Birzebbuga beat Zejtun Corinthians. Christopher Cutajar put the Saints ahead after just four minutes and Samuel Saldanha doubled the score two minutes later. Christopher Mario Baker extended the lead on the 37th but Zejtun hit back with goals by Stefi Cale on the 48th and Clyde Bouvet on the 52nd. However Samuel Saldanha converted a penalty on the 76th and Lee Joe Schembri sealed the issue with a fifth goal four minutes in added time.
On the other hand, Xghajra Tornados defeated Marsaskala. Richmond Baratuipre Hanson opened the score for Xghajra after just two minutes but an own goal on the 15th restored equilibrium and Byron Madu handed Marsakala the lead on the 44th. Hanson equalised on the 54th and Kenneth Abela made it 3-2 on the 75th. In the dying minutes, Hanson converted a penalty for Xghajra on the 86th and six minutes in added time, Abela scored a fifth goal for Xghajra.
Goals by Michael Camilleri on the 63rd and Marc Bolane Kakou Adonis on the 90th handed Mellieha a 2-0 win over Rabat Ajax at the Sirens Stadium while at the Charles Abela Stadium, Qormi defeated Gharghur 1-0 courtesy of Jake Bone on the 8th.
Birzebbuga lead the way with 21 points, followed by Attard on 18, Xghajra 17, Vittoriosa 16, Luqa and Qormi 15, San Gwann 13, Qrendi 12, Mellieha 11, Kirkop 6, Gharghur and Pembroke 3, Msida and Zejtun 2, Marsaskala 1 and Rabat 0.
