A goal by Robinho on the 14th minute handed Marsa a narrow win over Zurrieq in a match from the BOV Challenge League at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts Saviour Debono Grech’s side in second place, four points behind leaders Valletta.
Valletta registered a fine 4-1 win over Senglea Athletic at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Rudy Cassar put Senglea ahead after just three minutes but Gudja turned the score in their favour thanks to a Diego brace on the 31st and 67th. Dale Mifsud converted a penalty on the 85th and Haruna Shola Shodija added another six minutes in added time.
Swieqi United defeated Lija Athletic 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Blessing Brafo put Swieqi ahead on the 16th. Collins Gyamfi doubled the score on the 61st and Augusto Rene Caseres extended the lead on the 81st. Rundell Renold Winchester pulled one back for Lija when he converted a penalty three minutes from time.
In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Zebbug Rangers and Fgura United shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
Valletta lead the way with 21 points, followed by Marsa on 17, Sirens, Zurrieq and Pieta’ 15, Swieqi 14, Tarxien and Gudja 13, Mgarr 12, Santa Lucia 10, Zebbug and St. Andrews 8, Fgura 7, Senglea 5, Lija 4 and Mtarfa 3.
