Zabbar St. Patrick register double over Balzan

Zabbar St. Patrick came back from a goal down to beat Balzan 2-1 in a match from the 360 Sports Malta Premier Opening Round Bottom 6 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

The Saints, who were coming from seven successive defeats therefore returning to winning ways against the only team they managed to beat this season to narrow the gap with them to just two points. Balzan, on the other hand, continue to disappoint with a fourth defeat in five matches. They remain second from bottom, two points behind Naxxar Lions and three behind Melita.

Balzan managed to take the lead on 11 minutes when off a good run by Udoyen Akpan on the right, his cross was well-met by substitute Benjamin Hili, who had just entered the field of play, hitting home from close range.

Zabbar levelled matters four minutes in the second half when substitute Marcelo Santos provided the assist from the left and Brian Gambarte tapped the ball home from close range.

The Saints notched the winner ten minutes from time when Vinicius De Paiva advanced on the left and into the area before serving Marcelo Santos who slotted the ball from close range past goalkeeper Dylan Ciappara.
